PAPAY GYRO NIGHTS IS REPRESENTING SCOTLAND AT BELGRADE ART FAIR 2012
The first international artist-run art fair in Serbia will take place in Belgrade, October 26-28 2012.
The fair is focused on artist-run initiatives and creative exchanges.
We create a dynamic event, a professional exhibition and possibilities for networking among the exhibitors and the visitors.
The aim is to improve the artist-run art scene and to show high quality art.
Our vision is to increase the possibilities for artists to start and run their own places, and to make the Belgrade art fair a recurring event.
During the event we will arrange debates, talks and discussions concerning the art scene, the situation for artist-run initiatives and possibilities for self-organising ways to work in Serbia and abroad.
The art fair is an initiative by Formverk (art zone), Sweden
in collaboration with the organisation MOBA, Serbia.

JAMES HESFORD, our composer in residency, is back to Papay to work on a new place-specific sound poem and instrumental composition commissioned by LAPW and PAPAY GYRO NIGHTS.
New works will add to the existing collection of ORKNEY SERIES written by James Hesford:
The Entire Population of Papa Westray - composition based on papay dance tunes performed by Working Classical Music Orchestra and released as a single by L.A.P.W. and as a part of WCMO album "Objectivity Maintenance"
and
Papay Holm - composition for choir in Orkney Norn, which was performed by Fiori Musicali at music festival in Citerna, Italy and still awaiting its recording and performance at home in Orkney

HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY to LAPW!
5 years is hard to compare with 6000 years of human activities in Papay, but we hope everybody had a good time. 5 years ago, 15 August, we started LAPW with a great cello performances by James Hesford and Alfia Nakipbekova and now glad to see James in Papay again continuing to compose his ORKNEY SERIES - sound poem of the islands and its people.
We will have a party on Friday 3rd August, but LAPW birthday on 15th we'll be fortunately celebrating with air meal on our flight from Kirkwall to Bergen with Papay Gyro Nights presentation. So if any well-wishing - bring it to Papay on Friday 3rd August for our B_Day celebration and FROG KING MOBILE MUSEUM opening! 7.30pm till very late @ The Old Kelp Store of Papay
